I’ve added a new column for voting percentage. It’s deliberately a bit vague, but does provide some interesting insights on how we vote at this blog. Shirobako scored another 100% this week, meaning it found itself on everyone’s ballot, and yet, it hasn’t managed to break into the 3.0 rating level. So everyone thinks it deserves points, just maybe not too many. On the other hand, the shows we do give lots of points to seem to be the shows we actively disagree on week after week. Everyone has different tastes here, it’s really quite impressive.

This APR is now going to be out of sync with the official APR for shows that air on Sunday since I started calculating my trend data with the deadline each week being Sunday, and the official APR has changed the deadline to Saturday midnight as the cutoff for eligible episodes for the week. But it should still be possible to compare in general. Shingeki no Bahamut is creeping up here, while it cemented #1 officially. Shirobako, Kiseijuu, and Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso did well in both. However, when you look at the shows “on the cusp”, other than Fate/Stay Night, which is doing surprisingly well here (mostly due to the loads of points it gets from the people who vote for it), the similarities end. Sora no Method and Yama no Susume Second Season don’t even seem to be getting any consideration by the wider blogosphere, while we don’t really bother about Gundam Build Fighters Try.

Boundless shared some thoughts about this week, his thoughts on Shingeki no Bahamut resonated with the official APR:

Bahamut continues to be incredibly solid in it execution and entertainment value. This week featuring Zombie Pirates! Need I say more?

He also had praise for Sora no Method episode 5, one of the shows that air on Sunday (so was not the episode of the show eligible for the official APR):

Sora no Method really surprised me this week with what I feel was its best episode so far. This episode was full of minor details, deft direction, and perfect musical cues which subtly described the nuances of the characters’ thoughts.  I found the flashbacks of Yuzuki’s hospital visits actually chilling. And after the beautifully emotional finale under the saucer I just had to give it a high ranking this week.

I wonder if Sora no Method will make an appearance someday, even if only on the cusp. I feel people dismissed it a bit too early.

Mushishi finally makes an entrance this week, though due to its absence all the weeks before, it’s going to have to build up a trend to move higher. I can see it happening.

I’ll be thinking about new and interesting ways to visualize the data I’m collecting, and I’m looking forward to playing with it over time. But that’s it for this week.
